Michael Riotto | Grassroots Advocacy Leader
International Myeloma Foundation

Michael Riotto, Grassroots Advocacy Leader, International Myeloma Foundation

Michael Riotto is a former retail department store manager turned cancer patient advocate, coach and mentor after his diagnosis with multiple myeloma in 2011 at the age of 51.  His journey through the maze of chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, broken bones, and a stem cell transplant has led him to his new purpose and passion - educating and helping others.  Michael works with several patient advocacy groups, including (PAN), Patient Access Network, Patients Rising, (LLS), Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Rare Disease Life Foundation, and (IMF) the International Myeloma Foundation.  He is passionate about sharing his story to corporations, organizations, government officials, support groups, and pharmaceutical companies to represent ALL patients and to advocate for change.  Michael has been married to Monique, a nonprofit professional who raises money to support cancer patients. Michael and Monique have two adult children Christina and Theodore. Micheal found a new best friend, a fellow patient and tireless advocate Tony, through his advocacy work. After years of treatment, Michael is currently on a “drug holiday” with no active treatments.  He enjoys spending time outdoors and is committed to living a healthy lifestyle.  A goal-oriented person, Michael is excited to fulfill future goals – living and loving life every day to its fullest.
