Since 2018, Valentin has been driving the development of the Balkans Digital Gateway—a strategic initiative designed to create a high-speed, secure, and resilient connectivity network linking Sofia, Athens, Skopje, and Bucharest with the wider Black Sea and Aegean Sea regions.
The initiative aims to strengthen submarine cable connectivity in the Black Sea, enhance North–South and East–West digital corridors across Europe, improve connectivity between the EU, Türkiye, the Middle East, and the Caucasus, and expand access to backbone infrastructure across Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and North Macedonia. By increasing infrastructure diversity, competition, and service availability, the project also seeks to reduce dependency on third-country infrastructure and drive more competitive connectivity costs.
At Subsea Networks World 2026 in Singapore, Valentin brings a regional perspective on how terrestrial and submarine networks can work together to build more resilient, diverse, and strategically important digital corridors between Europe, the Black Sea, the Balkans, and neighboring regions.
Valentin holds a Master’s degree in Accounting and Financial Control.
