Mr. Shimada is the Deputy Director-General for Global Strategy, responsible for or economic security, digital infrastructure policy including submarine cable project, and international cooperation among like-minded countries such as QUAD.
His professional career within the MIC includes telecom/audiovisual legislation such as Telecommunications Business Act, Radio Act and Broadcasting Act, promoting international cooperation such as Japanese Digital TV Standards, and engaging organizational reforms of the Ministry to establish Global Strategy Bureau.
He also served as Chief Strategy Officer of a startup company in Northern Virginia for 4 years and lanched a new data business in the U.S. by temporarily leaving his office, and served as a diplomat at the Permanent Delegation to the OECD in Paris for 3 years.
He graduated from Northwestern University School of Law in 2006 with an LL. M. with honors.
