Simon Fisher, Principal Architect, Access, BT

Simon Fisher is Principal Architect for Access Networks in BT Technology with a key focus on the application and opportunity for Disaggregation and Software Defined Networks. Simon started his career in 1987 working for STC and then Nortel designing SDH equipment for the London City Fibre network. He joined BT?s Access Networks Division in 1989 as a lead engineer developing and launching DSL and Fibre transmission systems. In 2005 he joined Openreach?s Chief Engineer department as Principal Architect responsible for end-to-end solutions and the deployment strategy for delivering Broadband and Carrier Class Ethernet to the UK?s 32 million customers. Simon studied Electronic Engineering at the University of Liverpool, a Master?s Degree in Telecommunications and Switching at University College London, and became a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology in 2012.
