Dr. Kumar Sivarajan is the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Tejas Networks and is responsible for setting the technology and product direction of the company. He has nearly three decades of experience in the field of telecommunications. Dr. Kumar was the first chairperson of the governing council of India's Telecom Standards Organization (TSDSI) which is an organizational partner of 3GPP, the global standards body responsible for formulating 5G standards. Prior to joining Tejas, he was an associate professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru and a research staff member at the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, New York. He is a recipient of the prestigious IEEE W.R.G. Baker Prize Award in 1997 and has co-authored a bestselling textbook on optical networks which is currently in its third edition. Dr. Kumar completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT, Madras and holds an MS and PhD from CalTech, Pasadena, USA.
