Marcello Marelli serves as Director in Biologics Engineering at AstraZeneca. He heads a team focused on advanced protein engineering technologies to build innovative therapeutics. Notably, his group developed a mammalian expression platform for site-specific unnatural amino acid incorporation—driving precise bioconjugation for next-gen ADCs, bispecific antibodies, and targeted nanoparticles. A cell biologist by training, Marcello holds a Ph.D. from the University of Alberta (Canada) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Systems Biology, mapping organelle proteomes via genomics and proteomics.
