Jomana Musmar, MS, PhD, has over 15 years of federal experience and subject matter expertise within the interdisciplinary fields of biodefense, public health security, and health policy at grassroots, national, and international levels. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Presidential Advisory Council on Combating Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria (PACCARB) as well as Deputy Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Office of Infectious Diseases and HIV/AIDs Policy, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Heath (OASH), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Prior to joining OASH, Dr. Musmar managed the National Biodefense Science Board (NBSB), supported by the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) at HHS. Dr. Musmar is renowned for her exceptional leadership and collaborative approach to problem-solving, consensus building, along with a strategic vision and creative ability to navigate complex topics, such as antimicrobial resistance and One Health. She is committed to generating viable policy options to mitigate the impact of infectious diseases and improving healthcare outcomes through evidence-based solutions. Dr. Musmar holds a Doctorate in Biodefense with a concentration in International and Homeland Security from George Mason University, complemented by a Master of Science in Biomedical Science Policy from Georgetown University.
