Evan Rogers, Network Architect - Carrier Networks, EMEA, Corning Optical Communications GmbH & Co. KG

I am a Network Architect for Carrier Networks in the EMEA region at Corning, where I work with leading telecommunications operators to design and deploy efficient optical networks. With over a decade of experience in FTTP and last-mile deployments, and a particular focus on test and diagnostics and optical connectivity for both brownfield and greenfield FTTP and MDU, I am now shifting focus to DC and DCI networks for long-haul, metro, and data center connectivity, helping customers address the challenges of network scalability, capacity growth, and AI-driven traffic demands.

Data centres demystified: Colocation, hyperscale and edge data centres

  • What are the defining characteristics of these three data centre models and how do operational priorities differ?
  • What are the benefits and limitations of each model, and what advantage does each model bring in scale, latency and cost?
  • How are AI workloads changing space, power and cooling considerations?
  • Which technologies and operational approaches will shape the next generation of data centres?
