Kyla Williams Tate is the inaugural Director of Digital Equity for Cook County Government in the Office of President Toni Preckwinkle. This past December, the National Digital Inclusion Alliance named Cook County and its digital inclusion efforts, led by Kyla, as Visionary Digital Inclusion Trailblazers. On October 2, 2023, Kyla released Cook County's first-ever Digital Equity Action Plan and Digital Equity Map to advance digital equity goals across the County and build the digital equity ecosystem. She has worked in Human Services and Technology for over 25 years and has extensive experience in business operations, product development, strategy design, and using innovation to increase equity. Before joining Cook County, Kyla served as the Director of Operations and later Interim Executive Director for the Smart Chicago Collaborative, the implementation team for the City of Chicago's Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP).
