John Wright is a seasoned IT leader, solutions architect, and full-stack developer with more than two decades of experience driving digital transformation in life sciences. As Director of Software Engineering at Amgen, he coaches software engineers within R&D Informatics so they can deliver enterprise-scale platforms and digital solutions, accelerating drug discovery, translational research, and clinical development. John’s career spans leadership roles in both academia and industry. At The Jackson Laboratory, he directed global cross-functional teams in delivering next-generation sequencing and COVID-19 testing solutions through highly Agile and DevSecOps-enabled practices. His leadership in implementing Scaled Agile frameworks fostered collaboration across institutions, improving statewide pandemic responses in Connecticut and Maine. Earlier, he served as IT Director at the University of Rochester Medical Center, architecting decision-support and clinical workflow systems, and he developed innovative healthcare IT systems at the University of Florida. John is a certified SAFe Agilist, SAFe 4 Practitioner, SAFe Practice Consultant, and Azure Data Scientist, reflecting his deep commitment to innovation, agile transformation, and data-driven impact.
