Koen Pouw is a Sustainability Advisor on the Sustainability & Innovation team at Rotterdam The Hague Airport, where he focuses on improving airport sustainability across the airport's operations and accelerating the decarbonisation of aviation. With a deep interest in mobility and infrastructure challenges, Koen collaborates with airport stakeholders and industry partners to accelerate the sustainable energy transition both on the ground and in the skies. Koen managed to achieve the highest accreditation (Level 5) of the Airport Carbon Accreditation program founded by Airports Council International. With this achievement, Rotterdam The Hague Airport was one of the first airports in the world to have reached net zero scope 1 and 2 emissions (with more than 90% absolute emission reduction). This accreditation also recognises the airport's efforts to tackle aircraft emissions (scope 3), strengthening the airport's SAF efforts and innovation program focused on battery-electric and hydrogen aviation. Rotterdam The Hague Airport (Royal Schiphol Group) is a regional airport in The Netherlands and acts as a testbed for advanced sustainability innovations to accelerate the decarbonisation of aviation.
