Valerie Morley, Senior Scientist, Pathogen Genetics, Ginkgo Biosecurity

Valerie Morley is a Senior Scientist in Pathogen Genetics at Ginkgo Biosecurity. She is responsible for research and development related to metagenomic infectious disease surveillance. Dr. Morley’s work includes developing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance strategies for wastewater in healthcare, agricultural, and air travel settings. Prior to joining Ginkgo Biosecurity, she conducted research on RNA virus evolution, AMR in healthcare settings, and self-amplifying RNA vaccines. During the COVID-19 emergency, she conducted SARS-CoV-2 genomic surveillance for the state of New Mexico. She completed her Ph.D. at Yale University and conducted postdoctoral research at the Pennsylvania State University Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics.
