Troy Skwor, Associate Professor, University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee

Troy Skwor, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences and the Director of the Antibiotic Resistance and Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. His laboratory focuses on identifying the clinical relevance of antimicrobial resistance in wastewater and natural aquatic reservoirs from a culture and culture-independent method. On a global scale, they identify correlations between antimicrobial resistance and various environmental and socioeconomic factors, as well as a country’s socioeconomic status and antimicrobial stewardship practices. His lab also focuses on alternative treatments to combat multi-drug resistant infections, with an emphasis on photodynamic therapy.
