Cecilia Mundaca Shah, Senior Director, Global Health, United Nations Foundation

Dr. Cecilia Mundaca Shah is the Senior Director for Global Health at the UN Foundation. In this role, Cecilia serves as the Foundation’s primary policy and technical lead on global health security, including pandemic prevention, preparedness, response, and antimicrobial resistance. She is responsible for leading policy strategy on health equity, particularly as it relates to addressing the needs of last-mile and displaced populations. Cecilia also provides strategic management and oversight to the Foundation’s global malaria workstream. Before joining the UN Foundation, Cecilia led the National Academy of Medicine’s (NAM) team that managed the work of the G20 High-Level Independent Panel on Financing the Global Commons for Pandemic Preparedness and Response. At NAM, Cecilia oversaw critical initiatives on health security, emerging infectious diseases, One Health, and aging, including as the Director of the Forum on Microbial Threats, Global Roadmap on Healthy Longevity, and the Multi-Stakeholder Initiative for Creating a Global Health Risk Framework. Previously, Cecilia served as the Head of the Surveillance Center, Emerging Infections Program at the U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit 6 in Peru. Cecilia earned a DrPH degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland, and an MD degree from San Marcos National University, Lima, Peru.
