Catalina is a medical doctor trained in Internal Medicine at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. She worked in academia, initially in the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where she completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the molecular pathways of cancer and a training in clinical research sponsored by the NIH, and conducted basic, translational and clinical research. She then moved to Evidence-Based Medicine in Johns Hopkins University, where she completed multiple systematic reviews and topic briefs for the Agency for Health-Related Quality (AHRQ) and the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) in different health topics and co-authored more than 50 peer reviewed publications. She joined Lumos Diagnostics as Senior Manager of Medical Affairs in 2020, where she has overseen the conduct of multiple clinical studies and their final publications. Catalina and the team at Lumos Diagnostics are committed to AMR by developing rapid POC diagnostic tests to facilitate the accurate identification of infections, supporting appropriate antibiotic prescribing.
