Marcelo Alvisi de Paula, Director of Learning Development, FIVE Hotels and Resorts

Marcelo is a hospitality professional with a few years’ experience, graduated Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from FEV a Brazilian University, right after graduation, Marcelo left Brazil in 1993 to explore the world. 

In London, Marcelo had the opportunity to learn English as a foreign language. Along with studying English, he also learned few tricks about life. From dog walker to nanny, from kitchen porter at an Italian restaurant in Brixton to a waiter at St James Palace, Marcelo found a true passion in the hospitality industry. 

Marcelo developed his career in Learning and Development at PizzaExpress, where he had an inspiring and productive career. He then moved to Hard Rock Café to join the Regional team in Europe, traveling to twelve countries and visiting twenty restaurants, implementing full training solution. 

After 22 years in Europe, Marcelo accepted the opportunity to relocate to the UAE and headed the training department for Nando’s UAE. He is now very proud to be involved in the Luxury Hospitality, building the learning culture as Director of L&D for the Pre-Opening of Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai, now FIVE Hotels & Resorts.
