Joachim Winter, Senior Scientist and Project Manager, German Aerospace Centre (DLR)

Born in 1953. Studies of Mechanical Engineering with specialisation Aerospace Technologies at Technical University Braunschweig. Afterwards scientific assistant professor at Institute of Mechanics at Mercator-University Duisburg. 1987 - 2001 with DaimlerChrysler Group in different positions of aeronautical engineering and vehicle research. From 1998 Head of Systems Engineering of DaimlerChrysler Rail Systems (Signal) – Adtranz in Braunschweig as well as Head of Competence Center Satellite Navigation at site Ulm. 1998 – 2000 in parallel Head of Marketing & Sales Central Europe at site Braunschweig. Since Bombardier took over the business in 2001 Head of Profit Center Satellite Navigation of Bombardier Transportation (Signal) Germany in Ulm. From 2004 to 2006 Director Signalling Technology of central engineering in Stockholm. Since 2007 Director Telematics of Business Unit Central Europe. From February 2008 Project Manager „Next Generation Train“ at Institute of Vehicle Concepts of German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Stuttgart. 2013 promoted to be Senior Scientist.
