With over 20 years of experience at the intersection of technology and strategy, Michalis Oikonomakos is a seasoned Telecoms and Infrastructure Executive specializing in IP networks, interconnection, and wholesale services across Europe. Known for bridging deep technical expertise with commercial vision, he has led transformative initiatives at both national and international levels — from shaping wholesale and interconnection strategy to building out critical network infrastructure. Currently serving as Business Development Director at Islalink and volunteers as a Board Member at the Greek Network Operators' Group (GRNOG), he continues to drive strategic partnerships and infrastructure growth at the highest levels of the industry. His previous roles include leading the Greek Internet Exchange (GR-IX) and serving as Director at Euro-IX, reflecting a long-standing commitment to advancing internet infrastructure across the region. A natural leader of cross-functional, multicultural teams, he is equally comfortable engaging C-level stakeholders as he is navigating complex technical landscapes. He holds an MSc in Computer Science and a Diploma in Computer Engineering from the University of Patras.
