Ivan Fernandez de Jauregui Ruiz, Ph.D., is an optical system architect specializing in coherent optical transmission systems. Since 2022, he serves as a Principal Optical Engineer at Nokia, where he focuses on developing advanced engineering solutions to conceive the next generation of coherent systems. These solutions include digital-twin frameworks for fast theoretical system performance estimation and optimization, power control and monitoring algorithm design, card-level hardware architecture, among others. Dr. Fernandez de Jauregui Ruiz earned his doctorate from Telecom SudParis in 2018. During his carrer he has developed strong knowledge on all aspects of long-haul submarine and terrestrial transmission systems. From system modeling, performance optimization, and DSP development to transponder characterization/design, transmission experiments, and real-field operator network analysis. He has colaborated in 8+ world-class optical coherent transmission records, coauthored 30+ scientific paper, as well as multiple patents.
