Syed Faiz, Chief Business Officer, Bateriku.com

I bring over 20 years of experience in the automotive industry, covering importation, distribution, and retail of premium new and used vehicles. My career includes a decade with the BMW brand, where I successfully led a turnaround in one of its most challenging markets, North Borneo. Under my leadership, annual sales exceeded 500 units across BMW, MINI, and Motorrad, and I established a robust network of 4S centers across the region, including in remote areas of Sabah. As part of the senior leadership team at Yinson Greentech (Malaysia), I played a key role in shaping the nation’s sustainable mobility ecosystem. I was entrusted to establish ChargEV, now the largest charge point operator (CPO) in Malaysia, leading the country’s first deployment of fast-charging stations. I also supported the expansion of DrivEV, Malaysia’s largest EV fleet operator, where a major achievement included securing a landmark contract to lease 400 EV vans to POS Malaysia. Beyond land transport, I contributed to MarinEV in Singapore, where our team developed two pioneering electric vessels: the Hydromover and the HydroGlyder. Currently, I serve as Managing Director of rydeEV, where I drive innovation in two- and three-wheeler electric mobility. rydeEV is the only company in Malaysia to introduce an electric three-wheeler for B2B customers—an achievement that required navigating a rigorous approval process with the Ministry of Transport and the Road Transport Department. I also expanded into Indonesia, co-founding Gesits, the nation’s first electric bike company, and leading the development of Indonesia’s first electric bike prototype. These ventures underscore my long-term commitment to advancing sustainable transportation across the region. As a strong advocate of the “I Ryde Electric” movement, I continue to promote awareness and adoption of clean mobility solutions. Beyond business, I maintain an active lifestyle through cycling, football, and hockey—pursuits that reflect the same energy, discipline, and drive I bring to leadership. My leadership philosophy is rooted in inspiring and empowering teams, fostering innovation, and guiding organizations toward a shared vision of a sustainable, electrified future.
