Muhammad Syafiq Bin Saiful Lizan | Regional System Engineer
WETOWN

Muhammad Syafiq Bin Saiful Lizan, Regional System Engineer, WETOWN

Muhammad Syafiq is a Regional System Engineer specializing in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), with extensive experience in power systems, energy storage, and grid-integrated solutions across Southeast Asia. He holds a Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, and a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electrical Power from Universiti Putra Malaysia. He began his career at EPE, working on power distribution systems including power busducts, transformers, switchgear, and protection relays, building strong fundamentals in electrical infrastructure and protection systems. He later joined Huawei, where he was involved in solar hybrid systems, focusing on integrating photovoltaic generation with battery storage and load management. He then expanded his regional experience at Exicom, working on both BESS and EV charging infrastructure across Southeast Asia. During this time, he was involved in projects with major utilities and energy players such as Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Gentari, PLN Indonesia, and EGAT Thailand. His work included testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting high-power DC systems, as well as handling communication protocols and control strategies for real-world deployment. Currently, at Wetown, he serves as a Regional System Engineer focusing on BESS solution design. His primary role involves designing on-grid and off-grid BESS systems, with a strong focus on peak shaving applications. He works on developing optimal system configurations, power strategies, and control logic to ensure efficient energy utilization and grid compliance. In addition, he supports troubleshooting and operational analysis for large-scale battery systems, including involvement in an 82MWh BESS project in Sejingkat.
