Suzanne Toumbourou is Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Council of Recycling (ACOR), where she leads national efforts to advance resource recovery, recycling, remanufacturing, and the circular economy. With over two decades of experience in sustainability and public policy, she previously served as Executive Director of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC), where she helped shape landmark national reforms, including the Trajectory for Low Energy Buildings and energy performance improvements to the National Construction Code. Suzanne contributes to a wide range of government and industry advisory groups, including the National Research Infrastructure Advisory Group (Department of Education), the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation’s Collective Action Group, and the NSW Environmental Trust’s Clean Technology Technical Review Committee. As an industry expert, she brings a strong focus on recycling sector and circular economy priorities to her advisory work. She has also served on circular economy and sustainability advisory boards for Standards Australia, CSIRO, the CRC for Low Carbon Living, NatHERS, and the Sustainable Buildings Research Centre. She is known for her collaborative, cross-sector leadership and strategic influence in shaping national sustainability and circular economy policy.
