Sophy Liu Director | Strategic Advisor | China–Australia Trade & Investment Specialist Sophy Liu is an accomplished business leader and director with over a decade of experience in cross-border trade, investment, and strategic market development between Australia and China. She brings deep expertise in facilitating bilateral commercial partnerships, with a strong track record in scaling market entry, investment structuring, and industry integration across both markets. Sophy is the Founder and Director of AREMA Solutions, a platform focused on integrating global supply chains—particularly from China—with Australia’s renewable energy sector. Through this role, she leads strategic initiatives and investment activities supporting Australia’s energy transition, including renewable generation, storage, and system integration. She is also the Founder and Chair of the ChAFTA Forum, a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing economic cooperation under the China–Australia Free Trade Agreement framework. She has played a leadership role in policy engagement, including industry submissions contributing to the proposed ChAFTA 2.0 upgrade, and in convening high-level government and industry stakeholders through major bilateral forums and events. In addition, Sophy is the Founder and CEO of Oz-Town Australia, an official campaign partner of the Australian Made brand. Since 2014, she has supported and helped Australian exporters in successfully entering the China market, particularly in the agribusiness and consumer sectors. She has led multiple national delegations to the China International Import Expo (CIIE), facilitating participation by over 70 Australian companies. Earlier in her career, Sophy held senior leaders roles at CITIC Securities, where she contributed to the establishment of China’s REITs framework and later served as Managing Director of CITIC Securities Australia. In this capacity, she led the firm’s Australian market development and supported inbound investment by Chinese enterprises across resources, agriculture, and technology sectors. Sophy has also served as an advisor to Deloitte on China market strategy and as a board member of Seppeltsfield, a leading Barossa Valley winery. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), with a strong understanding of governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. She holds an MBA from the University of Technology Sydney, a Diploma in Business Administration from the Singapore Institute of Management, and has completed executive studies in International Marketing at the University of California, Berkeley. Sophy brings to boards a combination of strategic insight, international perspective, and commercial acumen, with a particular focus on energy transition, cross-border investment, and sustainable growth.
