Helen brings to Australia international expertise in circular economy, in particular product stewardship schemes. Through overseas examples she will illustrate the $billion benefits that could come to Australia and our businesses with essential regulatory features and what goes wrong if we don’t do it right.
Helen has worked at the coal face in areas subject to Australian and international events. From the Australian government’s refusal to sign to Kyoto, and then the start and end of the carbon price, and the collapse of Redcycle’s soft plastic program. Now Helen is working to reform Australia’s current approach to voluntary stewardship schemes so they become world leading, high-performing industry schemes that improve Australia’s productivity and resilience.
Helen’s specialty is supporting national and state governments and national industry on successful reforms, strategy and programs. Helen has held senior roles in industry (chemicals, plastics, packaging, energy, water and waste) on 20-50yr sector plans for water and circular futures. Board director roles in sustainability include: Renew Australia (previously Alternative Technology Association), Tasmanian Waste and Resource Recovery, Solving Plastic Waste CRC.
