Glen Morris is a highly respected expert in off-grid and renewable energy systems, with over 35 years of experience in the design and implementation of innovative energy solutions. As General Manager of the Smart Energy Lab, based at Mount Toolebewong, Victoria, Glen leads a cutting-edge facility that serves as a hub for renewable energy innovation, training, and testing.

Throughout his career, Glen has delivered groundbreaking energy projects, including utility-scale systems for Melbourne Water, large off-grid rural homesteads, and island microgrids. His work exemplifies a commitment to sustainable energy solutions that meet the complex demands of diverse environments.

The Smart Energy Lab, located within the Moora Moora Cooperative, is a testament to Glen’s expertise. The facility features a sophisticated microgrid that powers seven homes, 10 electric vehicle charging stations, a 20-bed community building, teaching facilities, and a solar panel testing site. The microgrid will boasts over 1,000 kWh of energy storage and multiple single-axis utility trackers, further enhancing its capacity and efficiency.

Glen has played a pivotal role in shaping Australia’s renewable energy standards and policies. For over a decade, he has served on the Australian Standards Committee for renewable energy systems. Additionally, he held the position of Vice President of the Smart Energy Council for six years, contributing to the advancement of the renewable energy sector nationwide.

As the founder of SolarPlus, Australia’s premier solar design software, Glen has revolutionized the way solar systems are planned and implemented. His expertise extends to electronics, electrical systems, and education, where he has trained countless professionals in solar design and installation.

Living off-grid for the past 36 years, Glen embodies the principles of sustainable living, combining his technical knowledge with a deep commitment to renewable energy innovation.
