Cara is the Director of Policy and legislation within the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling, in Queensland Government. Cara has worked within government for more than 20 years in various roles, from leading national environmental pest and disease eradication programs to her current role developing and implementing state environmental strategies and legislation.
Cara and her team work across addressing circular economy initiatives, product stewardship schemes and waste and recycling reforms including development of state wide waste strategies and policies, legislative reforms, delivering innovation challenges, trials and lifecycle assessment projects to inform future policy development.
Cara’s team worked closely with Smart Energy Council for the implementation of the solar panel recycling pilot project and the household battery storage pilot.
