Caroline Gregory, Owner, The Lovat Loch Ness

Caroline Gregory is Director of The Lovat, Loch Ness—a characterful 29-bedroom Victorian eco-hotel perched at the southern tip of Loch Ness in Fort Augustus. Since joining the family business in 2005, she’s transformed the property into a beloved Highland destination that feels equal parts cozy and refined, with her husband and Head Chef Sean Kelly creating the kind of inspiring food that keeps guests coming back. A Master Innholder and Director on the Visit Inverness Loch Ness board, Caroline champions both her local tourism community and authentic Highland hospitality. She’s woven sustainability into the guest experience, spearheaded cultural initiatives, and led a million-pound renovation that gave The Lovat its soul back—all while maintaining the warmth and character that makes independent hotels special. Caroline comes from hospitality royalty (her sister runs The Torridon), but she’s carved out her own reputation as someone who gets things done with style, substance, and a genuine love for the Highlands. When she’s not running the hotel, you’ll find her foraging for wild ingredients, walking her dog, taking bracing swims in Loch Ness, or running marathons around the globe.
