Paul McDermott has been a Primary School Principal for 18 years across sectors.  He is currently the Principal of Blue Haven Public School which has 600 students on the Central Coast of New South Wales.  Paul has been the Principal at Blue Haven for three and a half years and has led significant school improvement during this time.  The school was identified as one of the lowest performing schools in New South Wales in 2016.  A commitment to evidence based practices, building staff capacity, community engagement and school culture has resulted in the school being ranked in the state’s top 10% in 2018.  Blue Haven Public School was awarded Best Government Primary School at the 2019 Australian Education Awards with Paul being named Australia’s best Government Primary School Principal.
