Dawn Distler is a seasoned professional with 35 years of experience in the public transportation industry. She started her career as a bus operator at METRO, quickly advancing to roles such as SCAT Operations Manager and Assistant Director of Customer Services. After 17 years at METRO, Dawn moved to Nashville, TN, where she joined the leadership team at Davidson Transit Organization. She later became the Director of Transit for the City of Knoxville, TN, where she spearheaded the organization's efforts to win the 2017 American Public Transportation Association's (APTA) Outstanding Small Transit System Award. In 2018, Dawn returned to METRO as CEO, continuing her advocacy for equitable transportation as a vital public service. She also serves on the leadership team of the Ohio Public Transit Association (OPTA) and has previously been a member of APTA’s Board of Directors. In 2024, Dawn was honored with the APTA Outstanding CEO Award.
