Will Barton, Director Infrastructure Services, Hawkesbury City Council

Will Barton is an infrastructure and public service executive and NFP Non-Executive Director with a background in civil engineering across regional and metropolitan NSW. He draws on 20 years in the local government sector and his ability to engage with communities and stakeholders to identify opportunities for the delivery and operation of infrastructure and infrastructure networks to support social, economic and environmental outcomes. A purpose and values-driven leader, he values integrity, service, justice and ambition. Will is a strategic, innovative and creative thinker and his strong and proven leadership skills have seen him make significant achievements in the ongoing prosperity of the communities he has worked with; at a local, regional and state level.   Currently the Director Infrastructure Services, Hawkesbury City Council, Will is responsible for the delivery of transport, community facility, open space and recreation, wastewater, waste management and emergency services to a community of 70,000. His team of 170 staff have stewardship of $1.9 billion worth of public infrastructure in one of the highest natural hazard exposed areas of NSW.   Will is also active within the industry, as a non-executive director and currently the Vice President of the NSW & ACT Division of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia and a previous non-executive director of the Australasian Company and its affiliate, NAMS Canada.   Outside his professional career, he is a dad, husband, son and brother and keeps everything balanced through trail running and the odd ultra-marathon. He has a long history of volunteering, having joined the NSW Rural Fire Service as a Cadet, serving now for 26 years, receiving Long Service Leave Medal 1st Clasp and the National Emergency Medal for his involvement in the 2019/20 Black Summer Bushfires. He is currently the President and a Deputy Captain of his Rural Fire Brigade.
