Bernhard Meyhoefer has more than 40 years’ experience in developing sustainable energy and environmental management programmes in Germany and Asia. Since mid-1980’s he has managed several energy and environment related programmes in the Asia region, both in the private sector and for international development cooperation programmes.
Bernhard Meyhoefer has developed energy management systems for industries and government agencies in Thailand and several other Asian countries incl. China, India and Pakistan. He advised clean energy related government agencies in Thailand, India and Pakistan in the development of energy efficiency policies and implementation plans incl. the application of economic instruments. He served as lead consultant for several clean energy and eco-efficiency projects in the private sector in Thailand and SE-Asia and lead the German-Pakistan Clean Energy Programme as well as the Thai-German Energy Efficiency and Industrial Eco-Efficiency Programmes.
During 2014-2019, Bernhard served as Chief Technical Advisor for the Energy and Environment Partnership Programme with the Mekong Region (EEP Mekong), supported by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Government of Finland. While managing the EEP Mekong Programme, he spearheaded the application of result-based project financing instruments. Under his leadership, EEP Mekong supported the implementation of more than 50 clean energy projects in five countries of the Mekong Region (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam).
Based in Bangkok, Bernhard Meyhoefer is an international free-lance consultant in the field of sustainable development, energy and environment management and optimisation of industrial production processes. His consultancy services help clients to accelerate clean energy deployment through exploration and evaluation, design of projects and implementation programmes, and facilitation of project financing resources.
