Rashid Farivar, Member of Parliament, Swedish Riksdag

Rashid Farivar (born 1982) holds a Licentiate of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, with a specialization in semiconductor materials, electronic and optoelectronic devices, and integrated circuits. Since September 2022, he has served as a Member of the Swedish Parliament, actively contributing to the Committees on Transport and Communications, Environment and Agriculture, and Civil Affairs. Prior to his parliamentary tenure, Rashid spent over a decade in the Swedish automotive industry, primarily at Volvo Cars, where he played a significant role in the company’s transition toward hybrid and fully electric vehicles. His work encompassed vehicle charging functions and user experience, regulatory compliance, internal combustion engine development and calibration, as well as the testing and verification of electrical and electronic systems and functions. As one of the very few engineers to enter Swedish politics at the national level, Rashid brings a technical and analytical perspective to legislative work, particularly in shaping policies related to infrastructure, transportation, artificial intelligence, energy, and sustainability.
