Sinethemba Mnguni is a renewable energy specialist and technical advisor at SAPVIA, with a strong focus on solar PV compliance, inspection frameworks, and digital enablement of industry systems. He has played an active role in the inspection and readiness processes supporting the launch of the PV GreenCard (PVGC), contributing practical insights from on-the-ground assessments of PV training facilities and installations against applicable standards and best practices. His work bridges technical compliance with real-world implementation, ensuring that quality, safety, and accountability remain central to the growth of South Africa’s distributed PV sector.
In addition to his inspection experience, Sinethemba has been closely involved in the development and management of SAPVIA’s digital infrastructure, including PV-related web portals and data-driven tools that support industry transparency, intelligence reporting, and member services. As part of the SAPVIA secretariat, he supports stakeholder engagement, industry coordination, and capacity-building initiatives, working with installers, training providers, finance houses, and policymakers to strengthen sector alignment. His background in data science and machine learning further informs his approach to building scalable, insight-led digital systems for the renewable energy industry.
Sinethemba brings about half a decade of experience across the solar PV value chain, including roles as a solar design engineer, construction manager, and technical advisor, with hands-on involvement in the design, commissioning, and management of more than 10 MW of commercial and residential PV systems. He holds a BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and has a strong interest in power systems, grid integration, and the professionalisation of the solar PV industry. At the PVGC technical team, he contributes a unique perspective that combines inspection experience, digital systems thinking, and industry governance.
