Dr Hannan is a Consultant Specialist Physician in General Internal Medicine in Perspective Medicine at the Epworth Richmond Hospital, Melbourne. From 1984 to 1992 he was the Medical Director of the OCIS implementation project created in the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, in the Prince of Wales Hospital Sydney. 
Dr Hannan was invited by the Indiana University [Regenstrief Medical Record System] to assist in the creation and implementation of eHealth systems in Eldoret, Kenya, amidst the epidemic of 40 million people living with AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.
That system is one of the largest, advanced, open-source electronic health record systems in the world for all diseases. [ https://openmrs.org/ ] He is a Visiting Fellow, Centre for Health Informatics, Macquarie University, Sydney.
