Jenny Waycott, Deputy Head of School (research), School of Computing & Information Systems, The University of Melbourne

Professor Jenny Waycott is an interdisiplinary researcher who uses in-depth qualitative and participatory methods to understand people's experiences using new technologies to support social connectedness in later life. Professor Waycott leads the Design for Ageing research theme in the Human-Computer Interaction research group at the University of Melbourne, where her wrok sits at the intersection of technology, ageing, and human wellbeing. Jenny's research explores how carefully designed technologies can foster social connection, creativity, and emotional wellbeing in later life. Her current projects include co-designing innovative approaches to digital storytelling to support reminisicence and social connection among older adults.  A leader in both research and practice, Jenny chairs the Technology Subcommittee of the Victorian branch of the Australian Association of Gerontology and publishes widely across the fields of Human-Computer Interaction and Social Gerontology. Her work is driven by a commitment to inclusive design and to ensuring that emerging technologies meaningfully support people as they age.
