Chintan Shah is Associate Director and Digital Health Executive at South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD), New South Wales' (NSW) largest and fastest-growing Local Health District (LHD), serving more than 800,000 people through a workforce of over 18,000 staff. He oversees a $65M+ digital redevelopment portfolio within a $4B+ capital works environment, and as a member of SWSLHD's Digital Health Executive Leadership Team, shapes district-wide digital strategy including clinical systems, capital prioritisation, and the rollout of the Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR). Within that remit, he leads AI governance and adoption end to end. He chairs the forums that assess and approve AI use across clinical and operational domains, and holds a Digital Health Risk Champion mandate advising SWSLHD's Board on AI and digital risk.  His work is grounded in one core belief: governance cannot sit in every room where an AI decision gets made. Across a workforce this size, the real challenge isn't writing the policy, it's building the judgment that lets thousands of people make the right call.
