Dr Ben Bravery is an Australian psychiatrist, author, and former zoologist whose career was reshaped after surviving stage‑three bowel cancer at age 28. Originally trained in ecology and science communication, he underwent 18 months of treatment before deciding to retrain as a doctor to help make healthcare more compassionate and patient‑centred. He is also the author of The Patient Doctor (2022), a bestselling memoir that chronicles his journey from cancer patient to doctor and his mission to humanise the healthcare system.
