Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tang Siew Fun began her academic career in higher education in 1993 as a Mathematics lecturer. In the 21 years since, Dr. Tang has taught pre-university, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the fields of mathematics, business, management and education. She has also held a number of key positions in Taylor’s including Head of Teaching and Educational Development, Head of Teaching and Learning Special Projects, Programme Director for Taylor’s Business Foundation & Diploma, Deputy Programme Director for South Australian Matriculation and Head of Mathematics for Cambridge A Levels Programme.
Prior to joining the higher education sector, Dr. Tang has 7 years of working experience with MNCs. She joined Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) after graduating with a BSc degree in Mathematics from University of Malaya, as a Statistical Process Control Engineer. AMD designs and integrates technology that powers millions of intelligent devices, including personal computers, tablets, game consoles and cloud servers that define the new era of surround computing. After a successful 2 years with AMD, she worked with Tobacco Importers and Manufacturers Sdn. Bhd. (now known as British American Tobacco) for 5 years in the area of product quality assurance. Her industry experience enables her to share and engage with her students in real-work problems, scenarios and challenges in which students find relevance in their learning of the important skills and content.
