Mr Deon Cloete, General Manager: Cape Town International Airport, Airports Company South Africa

Deon Cloete holds two degrees; a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce and a Master’s Degree in Business Leadership, both from the University of South Africa. He has 28 years’ experience in the airport and aviation industry; his extensive experience is further enhanced by having served in the fields of both airports and airlines.
The highlight for Deon was being part of a broader Management Team that created, established and developed the Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) into what it is today, a sustainable commercial entity, profitable and in the habit of providing world class infrastructure and services. 
Deon has served at all of the ACSA Airports; initially at the then Johannesburg International Airport as a member of the Management Team until 1999; he then served as General Manager for Durban International and Regional Airports from 2001 to 2008 and now at Cape Town International Airport after his appointment as General Manager in August 2008.  During 2000/2001 Deon was seconded to South African Airways where he served in the capacity of General Manager: Passenger Support Services.
Deon has been a member of the ACSA Executive for the last 14 years. Deon previously served as a Board Member and Chairperson of Cape Town Routes Unlimited (CTRU); the then Destination Marketing Organisation for the Western Cape.  Deon also previously served on the Board of Wesgro, the Western Cape Development Agency and he currently serves on the Board of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI).
