Matthew Wheeler obtained his PhD from Imperial College London studying PI3K enzymes. He then moved to King’s College London where he became interested in a unique group of human diseases termed laminopathies which are caused by mutations in genes encoding nuclear envelope proteins. He continued his research at the Max-Planck-Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Germany as a group leader where he studied how signalling pathways are coupled to chromatin changes and gene expression to control embryogenesis, tissue homeostasis and disease. Based in the UK, he joined VectorBuilder.Inc in 2016 as Assistant Director of Europe bringing with him over 12 years of research experience.
