Rishi is a physician, Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sydney, and CEO at Stethy, where he leads the development and deployment of AI systems for patient safety and regulated healthcare workflows. He has also previously served as Head of Patient Safety within the life sciences sector, giving him direct experience overseeing safety systems in highly regulated environments. His work focuses on applying specialised AI to high-risk clinical and operational processes, including pharmacovigilance, adverse event detection, medical information and quality systems. Stethy’s technology is currently used across global life sciences organisations to automate safety-critical workflows while maintaining human oversight, auditability and regulatory compliance. Rishi has a background spanning medicine, engineering and artificial intelligence. He holds a Medical degree fand an Honours degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Sydney, and was previously recognised through the NASA Space Science Scholarship.
AI and agentic systems have the potential to improve patient safety, but deploying them into safety-critical workflows requires rigorous benchmarking, validation and oversight.
Drawing on real-world pharmacovigilance deployments, this session will explore how organisations can benchmark AI against existing human workflows, define safety and accuracy thresholds, and move from pilot to production with confidence.
Examples will include adverse event detection, safety inbox triage, case intake and reconciliation, with a focus on reducing manual workload while maintaining human oversight, auditability and regulatory compliance.
