In 2011, Edmund’s younger son Branden was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). It was difficult to find care and support for SMA in Malaysia and the standards of care were relatively poor.  A few years later, he founded We CARE Journey (www.wecarejourney.org), a not-for-profit with a vision to champion C.A.R.E and support for families with SMA and disabilities. We CARE Journey’s mission involves Connecting families with SMA and disabilities to care and support by creating Awareness, promoting Responsibility, and Empowering affected families. Edmund was a panel speaker at the 2016 National Early Childhood Intervention Conference. He looks forward to the day Branden receives drugs that will treat or cure his SMA.
