Görkem Kavçak has been with YILDIRIM Group for 4 years and is currently the Market Research & Intelligence Manager for the Group. In addition to specialising in commodity markets, he also keeps up with and analyses market developments for the 11 sectors in which the Group operates. Due to the Group’s active involvement in chrome ore and ferrochrome markets, Mr Kavçak carries out his research in these commodities as well as others such as nickel, coal and stainless steel.
Prior to joining YILDIRIM Group, Mr Kavçak served as the macroeconomics research analyst at CEIC, a research centre tied to the London-based Euromoney Group. During this time, Mr Kavçak focused his research activities on Turkey and its neighbouring countries such as Iran, Syria, Israel and Romania.
Mr Kavçak continues to work by blending his previous focus on macroeconomics with his experience in commodity markets. He has published newspaper articles titled ‘Future expectations for the Chinese economy’ and ‘The Course of the European Union in the Debt Crisis’ and authored research papers on chrome ore and ferrochrome markets that were published in sector-focused magazines. A member of the Econometric Research Association in Ankara, Turkey, Mr Kavçak continues to do econometric research on predictive modelling based on commodity markets.
Mr Kavçak received his undergraduate degree in econometrics from Marmara University in Istanbul, Turkey, where he has an MS from the Institute of Banking and Insurance.
