Mohamed Nasr | Assistant ICT Minister - Global Information Infrastructure

Mohamed Nasr is the Assistant Minister for Global Information Infrastructure (GII) at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in Egypt, since May 2020.
Nasr’s responsibilities include supporting MCIT plan for maximizing the State’s returns of the global ICT infrastructure and investments in the telecommunication companies operating in Egypt, as well as supporting MCIT different strategies for developing and securing the ICT Infrastructure and improving the quality of the services rendered to citizens. This is in addition to maintaining Egypt's strategic position as a safe path for submarine cables and maximizing its regional and international role in the global telecommunication industry, through supporting the extension of the global network to the neighbor countries, in line with the digital path strategy for other countries of the region, from data centers and Internet traffic exchange centers.
Nasr has 20 years’ work experience in telecommunication, as well as in investing in, developing and running submarine cable systems, global telecommunication networks and the Internet. He has previous work experience in international programs and projects management.
He was the Head of Subsea Cable Infrastructure at PCCW Global, the international operating division of Hong Kong Telecom (HKT) till May 2020. Prior to that, he rose through the ranks at Telecom Egypt (TE) to become the Head of the International Business Unit, in 2014, before joining PCCW Global in 2016.
