George Njuguna is the Director, Information Technology (CIO) of Safaricom PLC, responsible for Information Technology and Digital Engineering.
Prior to joining Safaricom, he was the Chief Operating Officer of HF Group, overseeing Technology, Operations and Customer Experience.
He has spent 13 years of his career working in the Financial Services sector with roles that have included Head of Information Technology at Commercial Bank of Africa and Regional Head of Client Access at Stanbic Bank covering Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mauritius and South Sudan.
George started his banking career as an Information Security Analyst in Dollar Bank, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
He has more than 19 years’ experience in IT, and is regarded as a thought leader in digital financial services and digital transformation.
George holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and MBA from Geneva College in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
