The Centre for International Law (CIL), National University of Singapore, is pleased to support Submarine Networks World 2026, which will take place in Singapore on 23–24 September 2026.
As global demand for digital connectivity continues to grow, submarine cable networks have become indispensable critical infrastructure, carrying the vast majority of international communications and supporting the global digital economy. The increasing need for greater bandwidth, lower latency, higher capacity, and more resilient networks underscores the importance of innovation, investment, and international collaboration in the subsea telecommunications sector.
Recognised as the leading annual event for the global subsea telecommunications industry, Submarine Networks World 2026 provides a premier platform for industry leaders, policymakers, operators, technology providers, and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, discuss emerging challenges and opportunities, showcase cutting-edge technologies, and strengthen partnerships across the subsea ecosystem.
The 2026 edition is expected to bring together more than 1,000 industry leaders and decision-makers from around the world, featuring over 150 expert speakers and 80 sponsors and exhibitors. Participants will gain insights into the latest developments in the design, deployment, operation, maintenance, protection, and resilience of submarine cable networks.
CIL is pleased to support Submarine Networks World 2026, which aligns closely with the Centre's ongoing research on the international legal and regulatory frameworks governing submarine cables and other critical underwater infrastructure. As submarine cable networks become increasingly vital to global connectivity, economic security, and digital resilience, there is a growing need to strengthen legal and policy frameworks that facilitate their protection, maintenance, repair, and resilience. Through its research and engagement, CIL seeks to contribute to informed policy dialogue on the evolving legal and regulatory challenges surrounding submarine cable governance and to promote effective frameworks that support the security, resilience, and sustainability of the global subsea communications network.
Emeritus Professor Robert Beckman (Senior Advisor of CIL’s Ocean Law and Policy Programme) , Dr. Tara Davenport (Co-Head of CIL's Ocean Law and Policy Programme) and Dr. Su Wai Mon (Research Fellow with the CIL’s Ocean Law and Policy Programme) will be speaking at Submarine Networks World 2026, where they will share their expertise on the international legal and regulatory issues relating to submarine communication cables.
