Dr Jagielska specializes in molecular biology, protein engineering, and medical biotechnology. Her research focuses on the development and application of bacteriolytic proteins – enzymes with antimicrobial properties represent a promising alternative to traditional antibiotics in the treatment of drug-resistant infections. She has been involved in many international projects funded by Norway Grants, National Centre for Research and Development, Agency for Medical Research and others. Her work has resulted in innovative solutions, which may be applied in skin disease treatment, veterinary medicine, aquaculture, and food protection, among other areas. She is a co-founder of Enzybiotx, a company dedicated to the commercialization of antibacterial proteins. She actively participates in science outreach, conducting lectures, workshops, and presentations on the threats posed by antibiotic resistance and modern methods of combating bacteria.
