Clarence Tan has been appointed IHG’s Chief Operating Officer for Southeast Asia & Resorts since May 2013, responsible for the growth of hotels, talent strategy, brand health, as well as growing InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) resorts portfolio in Southeast Asia after a successful stint in Japan. This is Clarence's 9th year in IHG. Before taking on this challenge, Clarence held a few other roles as Head of Finance & Business Support for Asia Pacific from 2004 to 2009, and then transited to Head of Finance, Business & Hotel Operations Support for Asia and Australasia in 2009 when IHG restructured Asia Pacific. He moved to Tokyo in January 2011 to be the CEO of the IHG-ANA joint-venture. Prior to joining IHG, Clarence was the Hotel Manager of Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor, Siem Reap in Cambodia, as well as Corporate Director of Operations at Raffles International. Clarence has more than 16 years of management and consulting experience, mostly in accounting and hospitality sectors. He is extensively travelled and well versed in commercial issues, particularly in Asia Pacific for the hotel industry. His earlier work experience includes property management in Pontiac Marina Pte Ltd and three years with PricewaterhouseCoopers as a Public Accountant. |
