Mr Shakeel Adam, Managing Partner, Aviado Partners

Shakeel Adam is Managing Director of Germany-based international aviation consultancy Aviado Partners which assists airlines across a range of issues including M&A, start-ups and turnarounds as well specific topics such as network & fleet planning, airline alliances and revenue management. The Aviado Partners team has a particular specialization in partnerships, alliances and joint ventures with extensive experience across Star Alliance, SkyTeam and oneworld, as well as with helping airlines to assess and maximize the benefits of bi-lateral partnership.

Shakeel leads the firm’s offering in commercial strategy, mergers and acquisitions and restructuring. He has been a trusted advisor to executives, Boards, lenders and government in North, South and Central America; Russia, the Balkans, Europe, Africa, the Middle East; and South East Asia. With a breadth of specialized experience in strategic planning, alliances, network and fleet planning, operations, revenue management, organizational design and overall airline commercial planning, Shakeel has successfully led airline turnaround assignments in Europe, the Americas, Australia, Asia and Africa. In 2009, Shakeel advised a European flag carrier on an alliance strategic fit evaluation, while in 2010 he advised a new oneworld member during the integration process. Since 2012 he is acting on behalf of LATAM Airlines Group and the Fiscalia Nacional Econimica in Chile as competition monitor for the merger between LAN Airlines, TAM Airlines and all their respective subsidiaries. Earlier this year, Shakeel also led numerous teams over a range of restructuring activities across network, fleet and revenue management at Qantas Group, forming a core part of the airline’s turnaround activities. Shakeel has also advised Malaysia Airlines, Lufthansa, Condor, Jetstar, SATA, airBaltic, S7 Group, SkyTeam, Boeing, Virgin Atlantic, Basic element, LOT, RwandAir, Icelandair, Air North, FastJet, Olympic Air, Saudi Arabian Airlines and Cayman Airways.

Prior to establishing Aviado Partners, Shakeel led the international aviation advisory offering for Grant Thornton UK LLP and the global airline restructuring and commercial practices at Lufthansa Consulting after moving from Air Canada, where he was the Director Operations Innovations. A licensed pilot, Shakeel began his aviation career as a design engineer at Bombardier Aerospace in Canada. In addition to aviation experience, Shakeel has experience in oil & gas exploration and in telecom strategy. Educated in Canada with a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering and an MBA, Shakeel spent his early youth in Africa and the Middle East.
