Rodolfo is a third-generation member of a highly successful business family from Guatemala with a reputation for honor and integrity unmatched in the region. The Paiz family's main business grew from its start in 1928 into the leading retail chain in Central America before merging its 500 stores with Wal-Mart Mexico (WALMEXV) in 2009. Rodolfo has long been involved in the family's governance, with prior service on Boards of Directors and the Family Council complemented with his current commitments to the extended family's Investment Committee and several of its philanthropic initiatives. His business profile has been strongly entrepreneurial (he launched his first small business at 11), and his bio includes over $100M in commercial real-estate projects for the Paiz group along with expertise in aviation, renewable energy, information security, computers and networks, financial modeling, business governance, and project finance. He has also been an active business consultant since 1997, a full-time family-business consultant since he founded The Guayacan Group in 2006, and a teacher of startup and small-business best practices at every opportunity. Rodolfo has an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Business (ranked #1 in International Business for 14 consecutive years), where he was named a Presidential Scholar. He lives in Miami, Florida (USA), with his wife and two children.
